Hi! My name is Flor Maldonado, creative director and founder of Flor Caballero. The name “Caballero” honors my late grandmother, Ignacia Caballero, whose legacy continues to guide my work.
Mexican-born, raised between the Bay Area and Zihuatanejo. Growing up with a mix of cultures drew me to continue searching for meaningful human and cultural connections. As a child, I would join my father on construction and remodeling projects, which cultivated an early appreciation for natural landscapes and carefully designed spaces. These childhood highlights drew me to the beauty of spaces, unique experiences, and creative people, as well as the sense of unity they can create when coming together.
My path to event design came through years of creative exploration, from completing a degree in digital communications to taking on production roles in the hospitality, design, and architecture worlds since 2013.
In 2016, while planning an event for a florist client, I discovered a new language of expression: refined and organically designed florals. Flowers felt like a natural addition to everything I valued in events and tailored experiences. By 2018, I launched this dear project.
I believe event design is about the client, what they value, their story, and their essence. I aim for the results of any of my services to reflect a blend of them, the surrounding space, and my care.
